Song of the Week: The Giver by Duke Dumont (Wave Racer Remix)

Wave Racer Duke Dumont

After almost a year of near silence, Wave Racer has gone ahead and transformed Duke Dumont’s track ‘The Giver’ into an explosion of sparkling, dancing, pulsating musical glory. The thing about Wave Racer tracks is that they transport you into a video game-like world where you feel like each dance move you do takes you further and further through the levels until you’ve reached this incredible sense of achievement. As with most of his music, it could easily be mistaken for a song in the soundtrack of a Nintendo game.

This take on Duke Dumont’s track is just restrained enough to be easy listening, yet bouncy enough that it could light up a dance floor. Perfect way to finish the weekend? Yep:

Best Songs For a 1 Minute Dance Party

IMG_2739

When studying or working hard on something, the benefits of a good break can be exponential. Taking a page out of 30 Rock’s book, here are our top 5 songs at the moment for enjoying an energetic study break with a one minute dance party!

DanceParty30Rock

5. ‘Memories That You Call’ – ODESZA (featuring Monsoonsiren)

If you’re only going to dance to this one for a minute, we suggest you skip to the drop at 1:05. But for those with more time on their hands, definitely listen the whole way through, because this one is epiphany-worthy.

4. ‘Heirloom’ – Basenji

‘Heirloom’ seems to be all over the internet at the moment with all the trendy music bloggers (how convenient that you should find it here…), and we’re pretty sure we love it. Prepare your most impressive clubbing moves, because this one’s a banger.

3. ‘Is This How You Feel?’ – The Preatures

Ok so it isn’t exactly a club banger, but you can totally imagine twisting with your partner to it at your high school prom. So grab someone to dance with and get those creative juices flowing!

2. ‘Act Yr Age’ – Bluejuice

Bluejuice aren’t going to be making music for too much longer together so it’s about time you jumped around and got silly to their upbeat tunes.

1. ‘I Got U’ – Duke Dumont, featuring Jax Jones

Nothing says ‘dance party’ like steel drums, and there are a lot of them in this track. It’s an oldie from earlier this year, but always a goodie.

So study/work hard people! Hope these tunes make stress a little more bearable…

Song of the Week: Talk Too Much by Andy Bull

Andy Bull Talk Too MuchAndy Bull and his characteristically androgynous voice are exploring a refreshing new sound in his single, “Talk Too Much”.

Featuring a choral-like intro that seems to be popular at the moment (check out I Got U – Duke DuMont, Jax), some pretty festive drum hits and a catchy walking synth line, it’s a super fun listen – perfect for your drive home or a cheeky start to your day!

This artist’s got a really special voice and even more personality (just listen to him talking on any radio show ever), he’s definitely an interesting Sydney producer to keep an eye on.

Look out for Andy Bull’s upcoming album, Sea of Approval to be released July 11 this year.
