Song of the Week: All We Need by Odesza (Kilter Remix)

Kilter Music Sydney

Kilter is one of my favourite live producers at the moment (along with Touch Sensitive) for one main reason – he shows off his musicality on stage. It’s easy for producers to play what seems like more of a DJ set due to the electronic nature of their work, so it can disconnect the audience slightly from their live presence. But for Kilter, percussion is a large element of his live shows, and you can also hear this in recordings of his original tracks and even his remixes.

Kilter’s recently released remix of Odesza’s “All We Need” is a great example of the integration of his own style of percussion into this bouncy track. Check it out for yourself:

But really, try and see Kilter live. He’s got a super engaging presence – as I saw clearly at Mountain Sounds Festival. And if you can’t get enough in the meantime, listen to his original track “They Say”:

Best Songs For a 1 Minute Dance Party

When studying or working hard on something, the benefits of a good break can be exponential. Taking a page out of 30 Rock’s book, here are our top 5 songs at the moment for enjoying an energetic study break with a one minute dance party!

5. ‘Memories That You Call’ – ODESZA (featuring Monsoonsiren)

If you’re only going to dance to this one for a minute, we suggest you skip to the drop at 1:05. But for those with more time on their hands, definitely listen the whole way through, because this one is epiphany-worthy.

4. ‘Heirloom’ – Basenji

‘Heirloom’ seems to be all over the internet at the moment with all the trendy music bloggers (how convenient that you should find it here…), and we’re pretty sure we love it. Prepare your most impressive clubbing moves, because this one’s a banger.

3. ‘Is This How You Feel?’ – The Preatures

Ok so it isn’t exactly a club banger, but you can totally imagine twisting with your partner to it at your high school prom. So grab someone to dance with and get those creative juices flowing!

2. ‘Act Yr Age’ – Bluejuice

Bluejuice aren’t going to be making music for too much longer together so it’s about time you jumped around and got silly to their upbeat tunes.

1. ‘I Got U’ – Duke Dumont, featuring Jax Jones

Nothing says ‘dance party’ like steel drums, and there are a lot of them in this track. It’s an oldie from earlier this year, but always a goodie.

So study/work hard people! Hope these tunes make stress a little more bearable…
